Online drum lessons! Making “screen time” count!
SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR ONLINE LESSONS:
- Drum set and/or practice pad and drumsticks. If you have mesh drumheads and low-volume cymbals or an electronic drum set, even better!
- AB Drum Lessons books (paperbacks and downloadable PDFs) are available HERE.
- Computer or other device with an active Zoom account. Don’t have Zoom? Sign up for FREE at www.zoom.com!
TIPS FOR ONLINE LESSONS:
- For best results, use a laptop or desktop computer with a good webcam and microphone. Phones and tablets can work but are not recommended (due to poor microphone quality).
- Set up in a well-light area with good front lighting to avoid shadows. Avoid backlighting, such as a window or bright light.
- When positioning your camera, be sure that your face and snare drum (or practice pad) are both in the frame.
ZOOM SETTINGS (see video below):
- Make sure you are logged in and that your camera and microphone are both ON.
- In Zoom’s audio options, turn on “Original Sound For Musicians” and/or “Enable Original Sound”. Depending on your device, you might need to adjust other audio settings as well (such as Noise Suppression and Optimized Audio). This can be addressed with Angel at the first online lesson.
- Use the “Touch Up My Appearance” option. This is optional, but can help enhance the lighting.
